Hey {{contact.first_name}},
Here is the RCFE Application Checklist you requested. It covers every document, form, and clearance that DSS requires, plus the timeline you should expect from application to license.
|
Quick heads-up
If your city allows it, consider scheduling a pre-fire clearance inspection before you even submit your application.
This is not required, but it is a strong best practice. It gives you the opportunity to hear directly from the fire marshal what changes (if any) are needed for your home to be RCFE-compliant before you officially begin the licensing process.
Keep in mind, not every city or county offers pre-inspections. You will need to contact your local fire department to confirm if this is something they provide. Some may offer it at no cost, while others may charge a fee. Every jurisdiction is different.
If it is available, I highly recommend taking advantage of it. It can save you weeks of delays and help ensure you pass your official fire clearance the first time.

The licensing process is not complicated once you know the sequence. Where most people run into problems is submitting things out of order, or showing up to the DSS inspection without the facility fully stocked and furnished. The checklist walks you through how to avoid both.
One more thing worth knowing: if you are planning to have ALW residents, it helps to start the billing setup conversation early, not after you are licensed. Getting that in place from day one makes a real difference in how quickly revenue comes in.
